i  thin the walls of the present industrial building, fragments of the ground floor of the former castle have been preserved. It was probably erected in the fourteenth century, during the reign of Casimir the Great. In the place on the hill where it stood, there was previously a stronghold. It was erected in the Gothic style, surrounded by a perimeter wall and a double moat. It was supposed to guard the border of Greater Poland with Silesia, and the starost stronghold

In the seventeenth century, during the Swedish Deluge, it was destroyed. In the eighteenth century, it was restored by the Commission of Good Order. After the reconstruction carried out by the Prussian authorities in the 19th century, it lost its original shape. |
