n 1261, Henry III of Wrocław founded the town of Kunzestad under the Średzki law. The name derives from Kunzo Wilrych, who Henry entrusted with Kunzestad, today's Wołczyn. Probably there was no castle here at that time.
The brick building was probably erected at the beginning of the fifteenth century. Soon it became the seat of the robber knights, for whom the Hanz Borschwitz is known. Through their long-term activity, they harmed not only merchants passing through the area, but also the city itself. In 1463, the townspeople of Wrocław organized an expedition to end Borschwitz's activity. The castle was destroyed and unrebuilt fell into ruin.
In 1848, in its place, perhaps with the use of fragments of walls or foundations, an Evangelical church was erected, which exists to this day.
