Castle in Węgierka

he first mention of the castle existing here comes from 1484, when Piotr Rozborski took a loan from Jan of Bystrzejowice in the amount of 200 florins for its construction. The residence did not belong to the Rozborski family for long, because in 1506 it passed into the hands of Piotr Pruchnicki, and soon after, with the hand of his daughter, the house became the property of Jan Pieniążek of the Odrowąż coat of arms. In 1713, the Hungarian woman again changed owner, who became the Siemianowski family, and after her Józef Rosnowski of the Ogończyk coat of arms. In the thirties of the eighteenth century, the village and the castle were purchased by Józef Morski, and in 1819 the castle became the property of Magdalena Dzieduszycka. Later, it passed through the hands of the Szembeks and, from 1929,

The castle, the remains of which have remained to this day, was erected at the end of the 16th century by the Pieniążek family. It was a quadrilateral plan with two corner low towers at the west wing, the whole was surrounded by a moat. In the period of splendor, the castle had two residential wings - west and south - and from the east there was only a perimeter wall. It is possible that there was another residential wing on the north side. In the nineteenth century, the castle was destroyed and partially demolished. The walls of the west wing, part of the northern wing, the bastion and the remains of the moat have been preserved.
