Castle in Wałcz

mmediately after the foundation of the town in 1303, the Margraves of Brandenburg built a castle here. It was an important point of resistance of the New March on the border along the Gwda River. The ruins of the brick complex were still visible at the end of the 18th century, but it is not known where they were located. Two possibilities are taken into account - a peninsula protruding into the Castle Lake or a place where the court building is currently located.
