i n the mid-thirteenth century, the local castle is mentioned, which later in the years 1274-1289 was a princely residence. It was probably a wooden-earth complex erected by the Duke of Głogów, Konrad I. In the second quarter of the fourteenth century, it is possible that after the destruction by the army of Casimir the Great in 1343, a brick castle was erected. Until 1489, it was the residence of the Dukes of Legnica, later it passed into the hands of knights.
The stronghold was destroyed in 1628 by military operations during the Thirty Years' War. It was not rebuilt, and around 1757, using the castle walls, a Baroque manor house was erected here. In the nineteenth century, the manor house was rebuilt into a neo-Renaissance palace, which, however, was destroyed during World War II and its remains were demolished. Currently, no visible trace of the castle remains.
