t he remains of stone walls and the remains of the tower of the prince's castle on the top. According to legends, the first wooden castle was built here by prince Bolesław the Tall in 1198. The brick castle was erected at the end of the 13th century by Bolko I, the Duke of Świdnica and Jawor, as evidenced by mentions of it in the books of salaries of the Cistercian monastery in Krzeszów from 1292 and 1299. From these books we know that the castellan of in the castle at that time was Reinczko Schoff (Schafgotsch).
The castle was to guard the border of the Duchy of Świdnica-Jawor with the Czech Republic. In 1317, the castle was in the hands of robber knights. In the years 1361-1374, the burgrave in Rogowiec was Mikołaj Bolcze. After the death of Princess Agnes in 1392, the castle

was within the borders of Bohemia. In 1420, Franciszek of Pogorzela stayed in the castle, engaged in robbery and plunder. In 1428 it was plundered by the Hussites and then again in the possession of robber knights - the Schellendorf family. Jan von Schllendorf was the most famous of them. After the destruction caused by the army of Matthias Corvinus in 1483, it was not rebuilt. In 1497, it was finally destroyed, probably by planting an explosive charge.
The castle consisted of a tower and a residential building surrounded by a wall together with the courtyard. The whole had a plan similar to a horseshoe, in the line of the wall, in the bend of the horseshoe there was a tower. Very faint remains have survived to this day - the remains of the tower's foundations up to a height of 2 meters set on the rock, the remains of the former perimeter wall about 2 meters thick associated with the tower cylinder. The rectangular courtyard was partially carved into the rock, slightly above its surface there used to be a residential building, most probably also rectangular, but no trace of it has survived to this day.
