f ragments of the outer wall, which have survived from the former castle, surround the cellars of the west wing with Gothic rib vaults, supported on pillars. This castle was built in the second half of the thirteenth century by bishops of Kwidzyn. It was erected in the Gothic style on a regular plan. Until the Thirty Years' War, it was their residence and the center of the bishop's estate. During the war, it changed hands. After the fire at the end of the 15th century, it was rebuilt at the beginning of the next century by bishop Dobeneck. It was completely burned down in 1688, then, at the end of the 18th century, demolished.
