he relics of the castle in Piekary, opposite the monastery in Tyniec, were thoroughly identified during archaeological research in 1932. This building was erected by Konrad Mazowiecki in 1246. Three phases of use have been distinguished. The most important element was the stone and wooden tower (for the first time in Poland, a tower was erected here on a square plan with sides of 12 x 12 m). The castle burned down at the end of the 13th century, the reconstruction was undertaken, but not completed.
