t he first mention of the castle comes from 1472. Because from the beginning of the settlement until 1512, the estate was owned by the Boreks, it was they who had to erect the castle. It was probably built by Maciej Borko, who died in 1452, although some researchers estimate that the castle could have been built as early as the end of the fourteenth century, and Teresa Jakimowicz associates the construction rather with the third quarter of the fifteenth century. Initially, it had a plan similar to a square with a side of 25 meters, and the perimeter walls included wooden castle buildings. In the fifteenth century, three castle wings and a four-sided tower in the north-east corner were erected. In 1512, Osieczna passed into the hands of Łukasz II Górka, whose family ruled this area until 1592. Then,

until 1618, it was in the hands of the Czarnkowski family. In 1598-1601, Adam Czarnkowski made another expansion of the stronghold, which is evidenced by the foundation plaque with the coat of arms of Nałęcz and the mannerist portal.
Then the castle with the village passed into the hands of the Przyjemski family, and then the Opaliński family. In 1665, there was a fire, after which the castle was rebuilt by Jan of Bnin Opaliński. After the Opaliński family, the castle was still in the possession of the Gajewski and Skórzewski families. In 1752, an inventory of the castle was carried out. From 1793, the castle belonged to German families. When at the end of the 19th century the castle belonged to the Heydebrands, they made another reconstruction, and in the years 1908-1911 the castle gained its present form during the reconstruction by the Berlin company Reimer and Körte.
Today, the castle houses the Rehabilitation and Treatment Hospital for Children and Youth.
