t he castle in its present place was built in the second half of the fourteenth century on the initiative of bishop of Kraków Florian of Mokrsk of the Jelita coat of arms or his brother castellan of Radom Klemens. Mokrsko already in the thirteenth century belonged to this family, and they originally had a residence in today's Mokrsko Dolny, near the parish church. The castle was probably completed by 1384, and the first mention in documents comes from 1428. On a small hill, a four-sided stone complex was created with a plan similar to a rectangle with sides of 25x45 meters. The residential building was located on the shorter western side of the perimeter walls, had cellars and three residential floors. Representative character, nice top floor, divided into two rooms. basements were divided into three parts. The entrance to the castle led through a gatehouse added to the outer face of the southern curtain of the walls, probably slightly higher than the residential wing. The castle was surrounded by a moat, over which a wooden bridge was thrown, and outside the moat there was an economic outer bailey. Because the place was surrounded by wet meadows, a causeway was led to the castle complex, along which the only road to the stronghold led.
From 1509, the castle changed owners several times. When in 1531 it belonged to Queen Bona, Piotr Kmita rebuilt the castle in the Renaissance style. The next expansion probably took place in the second half of the 16th century, when a two-storey southern wing was added, which absorbed the lower part of the gatehouse. Around the middle of the seventeenth century, the perimeter walls were raised even more.
At the turn of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the castle was abandoned, and in the mid-nineteenth century it was already significantly ruined. Currently, the remains of the walls of the west wing and the corner of the perimeter walls of the courtyard are preserved.
