n the past, in the place where today there are ruins of a bastion castle, in the Middle Ages there was the family seat of the Krupski family - a small fortress on the tributary of the Wieprz River. In the second half of the 16th century, Paweł Orzechowski, the chamberlain of Chełm, used the remains of the foundations of that building to build a new, very modern castle at that time. It was surrounded together with the outer bailey by perimeter walls, and at the corners there were four bastions with cannons defending access to the walls.
The construction of such a huge castle in this place may seem not fully thought out, because the borders of the Polish state at that time ran far to the east of this place. However, the Tatar herds reached the vicinity of the fortress despite this, destroying and robbing the area.

of buildings consisted of two residential buildings, their external walls were also defensive walls. Together with the other two wings, they formed a quadrangle surrounding a rectangular courtyard, to which an entrance gate led from the north-east.
The layout of the bastions shows that the fortifications were designed by a specialist in this field - the cannons located on them could very well not only defend the access to the walls, but also effectively hit the foreground with fire. The bastions and curtain walls themselves were made of stone and brick.
The castle was abandoned after the Deluge in the seventeenth century, when the owners could no longer afford to renovate the fortress destroyed by the Swedes.
