n the place of an abandoned wooden-earth stronghold on the Oder River, in the 13th century, the Silesian Piasts erected a brick castle. It is possible that the founder was the Duke of Wrocław, Henry the Bearded, to whom these areas belonged until his death in 1238. In 1249, the Duchy of Głogów was created, within the borders of which Krosno was also included. The first Duke of Głogów was Konrad I, who could also have been the initiator of the construction of the castle.
At the current stage of research, the layout of the thirteenth-century castle is unknown. It was probably a regular complex with one residential building, whose Gothic walls have been preserved in the present northern wing. In the years 1294-1319 Krosno belonged to Brandenburg, later it was given back to the dukes of Głogów in exchange for lands in the area of Sulechów and Świebodzin.
During the times of the dukes of Głogów, Henry IV and Przemysł II, the castle was expanded in the first half of the fourteenth century. At that time, a gate wing with a small tower with a staircase was erected.
After the death of Przemysł II, the Duchy of Głogów, and with it Krosno, was incorporated into Bohemia. The second residential wing - the southern one - was probably

built during the fifteenth-century reconstruction. At the beginning of the sixteenth century, the castle was rebuilt again, giving it the first Renaissance features. The gate wing was transformed, and the southern wing received cloisters.
In the years 1579-1590, the eastern wing was erected on the outer side of the perimeter wall and the gate wing was transformed again. In 1634, the castle was destroyed by fire, but it was quickly rebuilt. After the partitions of Polish, Krosno found itself within the borders of Prussia, whose authorities adapted the castle for military barracks. The buildings served this function until the Second World War. In 1945, it was destroyed, and the reconstruction from 1964-1966 restored only some of the buildings. Currently, only the gate wing is used, which houses the club.
