On the earth mound, he erected a brick complex on stone foundations with a plan similar to a rectangle. In the north-eastern corner there was a cylindrical tower with a diameter of 8 meters. In the middle of the northern perimeter wall there was a gatehouse. Initially, the castle had only one wing, it had the form of a residential tower measuring about 9 x 10 meters and two or three floors.
The next owners were the Górka family. In 1426, the complex was expanded by the chancellor of the Poznań chapter Mikołaj Górka. The castle gained two three-storey residential wings - one was added to the western wall, the other - to the southern one, so that

they formed the shape of the letter L. In the corners of the west wing there were two semi-cylindrical towers, and a drawbridge was thrown over the moat.
Probably around the turn of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, both wings from the beginning of the fifteenth century were demolished, and the castle after the reconstruction had a two-wing form with buildings added to the eastern and western walls. In 1592, after the death of Stanisław Górka, the castle with the key of Kórnik became the property of the Nałęcz Czarnkowski family, then in the years 1610-1679 the owners were the Grzymalites Grudzińskis. After them, the castle was taken over by the Działyński family. In the second half of the eighteenth century, Teofila Potulicka née Działyńska rebuilt the old castle into a residence in the French style.
From 1819, the castle was owned by Tytus Działyński, who in the years 1846-1861 rebuilt the stronghold into a neo-Gothic residence according to the plans of Karol Friederich Schinkel. The castle became one of the most magnificent magnate

Currently, the castle houses the collection of the library of the Kórnik Foundation.
