riginally, Kalisz was located south of today's city center. Here, on the left bank of the Prosna River, today there is the Old Town, where there is a large settlement. Research conducted by Krzysztof Dąbrowski in the early 70s of the twentieth century discovered the remains of stone foundations in the ramparts. A hypothesis was put forward that there was a tower here probably from the beginning of the 13th century. The remains of the walls of the church erected in the twelfth century and founded by Mieszko the Old were also discovered within the wooden ramparts.
All the discovered fragments of the walls are clearly visible, the Archaeological Reserve, which took care of the hillfort, takes good care of the historical heritage.
