m entions of the princely stronghold in Głębocko appear in documents from 1272 and 1294. This stronghold defended the crossing over the Nysa Kłodzka River. In 1331, the documents already mention castrum nostrum. The brick castle was erected by the dukes of Brzeg and was their seat.
During the fights with the Hussites in 1430, it was captured by them, and probably suffered significantly. It was finally destroyed by the army of Matthias Corvinus in 1473.
In the eighteenth century, the ruins of the castle were demolished, and the material from the demolition was used to erect a new Schaffgotsch palace in Kopice.
Apparently, at the end of the 19th century, the foundations and fragments of the walls, reaching up to the height of 2 m, as well as traces of ramparts and moat surrounding the former medieval castle were still preserved.
