he castle stood on a hill on the right bank of the Dunajec River, after the creation of a reservoir here, this hill became an island on Lake Rożnów. It was probably erected by Klemens de Gródek in the 1st half of the 14th century. The first mention of it comes from 1378. It was certainly inhabited until 1390, because then three brothers 'from Słupca' - Stanisław, Andrzej and Jan - made a bequest to the church in Wodnica. In 1410, the brothers sold the castle in Gródek to Archbishop Piotr of Kurów, who already owned the nearby castle in Rożnów. It was the last mention of the castle. Unfortunately, archaeological research has not yet been carried out in this place.
