he currently preserved castle in Gorzanów began to be built in 1573 to the south of the original medieval castle, which was destroyed in 1470. In the years 1653-1657, when Johann Friedrich von Herberstein was the owner of Gorzanów, the castle was expanded, the works were supervised by Lorenzo Nicelli, and after him Andrea Carove took over the management. The castle had a plan close to a rectangle with an inner courtyard. The main entrance led through a gate from the north to the utility courtyard, and from there through

a gate in the northern wing of the palace to the inner courtyard. There was also a second gate from the south. From the courtyard side, on the axis of the eastern wing, a tall square tower was built, which above becomes an octagon. All the castle wings are three-storey high, covered with sgraffito decoration restored in 1906. In 1735, another reconstruction was completed, which gave the interiors baroque features. In 1775, the park adjacent to the palace, established in 1635, was transformed into a landscape park. The main palace buildings were still in use until the end of World War II, later attempts were made to renovate the damaged ones, but these works were not completed. Currently, only the farm buildings under the castle are in use.
