r uins of a knight's castle on a hill. The original one was probably erected at the end of the 15th century, after the purchase of the Dzięgielów estate by Jan Czelo from Czechowice. In the possession of the Czel family until the beginning of the seventeenth century. It was rebuilt around the middle of the seventeenth century after the destruction of the Thirty Years' War, thanks to the efforts of Jan Goczałkowski. last years of the eighteenth century, it was in the hands of Baron Józef Beess, later the property of the Cieszyn Chamber. Destroyed by fire, then rebuilt in the second half of the nineteenth century. Renaissance with Gothic parts. Distorted as a result of reconstructions. Facing west. It is made of stone and brick, plastered. Originally on the plan of an irregular quadrilateral with a courtyard in the middle, now it has three wings (the eastern wing has been demolished); from the north, a rectangular wing added in the eighteenth century. Two-storey, partly with a basement. In the north-west corner, there is a two-flight staircase with an overbuilt third storey, protruding in front of the face of the courtyard façades; From the side of the courtyard, the ground floor is pierced with three arcades with semicircular arches supported by wide pillars. The interior is divided by newer walls. Single-bay ground floor. In the west wing, there is a wide passage hall with four niches in the side walls. In the northern wing, housing cowsheds, there is a cross-vaulted vestibule with lunettes and barrel vaults with bosses in the form of rosettes, and in the rear part there are stairs to the first floor. In the room, on the left, there is a sail vault on arch bands. In the barns, barrel vaults and sail vaults on arch bands, flowing down to the pillars. Two-bay floor, transformed; in the west wing and partly in the southern wing from the courtyard side there is a corridor; rooms covered with ceilings. The attic has a beamed ceiling. The western façade has an irregular rhythm of openings, with ten axes on the first floor. To the vestibule there is a portal from the 16th-17th centuries, closed in a semicircle, moulded, decorated with panels, with a rosette in the key. Above the portal there is a double cartouche with the coats of arms of Śreniawa (Goczałkowski) and Odrowąż and the date 1768. The side façades of the west wing are topped with stepped gables from the 19th century; From the south, a small balcony, perhaps on the site of the former latrine. The façade of the eastern wing

added at the northern arm has eight axes, the northern wing has four axes with a stepped and a rounded corner. In the upper storey of the staircase, there is a frieze with panels. In the courtyard façades there are portals: 1. in the northern wing Baroque from the second half of the 17th century, eared, with an abutment closed with a basket arch, in which a cartouche with the coats of arms of Śreniawa and Ogończyk, 2. in the southern wing closed with a semicircular arch, moulded, 3. in the west wing rectangular, moulded. In several windows there are stone Baroque surrounds from the 17th century, some with cornices. Gable roofs, rebuilt after a fire in the 19th century, covered with tiles.
There should be no difficulty in reaching this castle - it is located at the main (only :) intersection in Dzięgielów.
