t empelburg Castle was erected by the Templar Order around 1290, after they received these lands from Prince Przemysław II in 1286. After the secularization of the order, Czaplinek with the castle in 1345 passed into the hands of the Knights Hospitaller and found itself within the borders of Brandenburg. In 1368, it was annexed to Polish by Casimir the Great. The commandery was liquidated in the last quarter of the fourteenth century, probably then the castle was already destroyed.
In the inspection

made in 1565, the castle was not mentioned. The areas remained within the borders of Poland until 1772.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to determine exactly where the castle stood, research has not been undertaken. It could probably have stood on a small hill on the south side of the Old Town.
