n 1232, Władysław Odonic gave the village and its nearby estates to the Templar Order. From 1250 to the end of the 13th century, they built a chapel on a flat elevation above the Myśla River and probably surrounded the vast plateau with fortifications that included some other buildings. The seat of the commandery was located here, and from 1262 - the commandary, but it was not a significant establishment.
In 1312, after the secularization of the Templars, Chwarszczany became the possession of the Hospitallers.
After the Hospitallers were moved to Świdwin, a farm was established from the Chwarszczany castle. During the Seven Years' War, it was partially destroyed. In 1858, the chapel was rebuilt, and the farm operated until the end of World War II.
